Welcome to my book site!  I have always loved writing in English as opposed to my native tongue, Tagalog.  When I was in my teens, I used to pour my apprehensions and anxieties into poems and essays which helped sustain me through those troubled and uncertain years.  Decades after, a family tragedy happened which moved me to write again.  My book, A Life Reclaimed, was published in September 2009.

Sheila's Portrait
_A Life Reclaimed is about my niece, Sheila May Advento, a courageous young woman and a quadruple amputee.  In July 2003, Sheila was just 26.  She had a new job, attended night school and helped her mom with house expenses.  Life seemed full of promise when tragedy struck.

She contracted meningococcemia, a life-threatening infection of the bloodstream.  She was in coma for eight days but she survived, albeit at a terrible cost. Gradually, she regained her strength but her limbs remained black and lifeless.  Barely a month later, she had to make the most difficult decision in her life - face amputation of her limbs or eventually die from the infection.  This is her story.

A Life Reclaimed was published by Booklocker.com.  It is available in ebook format (Kindle, Nook, ePub for $9.99) and in paperback (color interior) at $22.95.  To get a free excerpt from the book and/or to order the ebook or paperback, click here.  It is also available online through Amazon.com, Barnes and Noble, and other online booksellers.

Someone told Sheila that she ordered the last copy of the book from Amazon and that it is sold out.  Please do not believe this.  It is a gimmick.  Order it from Booklocker.com through this link.
